I have always been an artist. I think it's in my spirit to create. I began creating at an early age after watching my elders. Those influences showed me the value of creation; the joy it can give your soul, and the emotion it can instill in those eyes of the beholders.
I began expressing myself through fashion as an individual. I remember being able to recognize a person's perception of me by the way they viewed my appearance. I quickly realized that this experimentation in expression was just my way of becoming authentic and comfortable in my own shell.
When I was young it was the clothing that allowed me to express myself. As I grew older; I knew I would decorate myself with a new material. I wanted tattoos to make my self-expression permanent and unwavering.
Tattoos are not just a form of self-expression. They have been created through the ages in many cultures. They have been applied for medicinal purposes, as markings of warfare, and even to humiliate criminals.
I have always viewed the adornment of the skin as a very personal journey into self reflection. It is this "self-reflection-expression" that connects us to the inward and outward. I believe tattoos can give balance to life. On one hand it is viewed as a bad thing and on the other as a good thing.
Either way, I only use my good hand to tattoo. Let's share this human experience together.
